I was four to five years old when I first encountered a wandering soul. It was afternoon, around five o'clock before six. I was tired and sweaty from playing so when I got home I quickly lay in a long wooden chair near the door. My head was at the direction of the door so I couldn't see who will come (I only see the inside of the house).

I was staring on our ceiling while resting when I heard someone was breathing so fast coming nearer and nearer to the door. I didn't bother to have a look to know who he was because I was really tired. I presumed it was my sister/brother, who got home and like me they were also tired from playing.

It stopped right at the door, then it move forward to my left side. His breathing becomes harder and louder this time (like much desperate to grasp for an air). Then, to my surprised he blows his breath straight to my ear. It was a tingling sensation, I felt the moist and warmth of his breath on my ear so I quickly sat up. I was angry and going to yell to someone who played tricks on me but I realized there is no one at my side, I was alone in the house and I saw that their is no one outside. I was nonplussed

I mentioned my experienced to my mother. She said that maybe it was a soul, who is tired from his long journey to find the light and she said that I should have thrown some water outside the door so the soul can drink. I felt sorry for the soul.

But after a few years it came back, and my opinion about this soul change. My mother and I was watching TV when suddenly my older sister came rushing from upstairs. She was scared and can hardly speak when she told us what had happened.

She said she was standing beside the bed when she heard someone was breathing so fast but she was just alone. She jump up on the bed and when it's coming nearer and nearer to her she became much terrified and thought to jump on the stairs (the bed was beside the stairs and the style of the stairs is like a well which has no doors --- hope you get that).

She could have died if she jumped because we have long stairs. We conclude that it was an evil soul and was trying to harm my sister. I was not scared but rather I was furious with the soul.

The third time it came back, many years had also passed and I was in college then. My father bought a CD disk from abroad. It was a cool disk because it contains a variety of sounds and voices of people and animals.

One night, my older sister and I decided to be a prank caller so we can use the CD to trick people. We were using a speaker phone so were both laughing so hard when we heard the reaction on the other line (but don't get us wrong were not a bad girls were just entertaining people!!!!!! We don't use bad words or make up a story that will annoy them; we just let them hear funny voices/sounds).

On one particular line, they were angry to us and just hang the phone, when suddenly we heard someone was breathing so fast. It lasted for few minutes then it stopped. We felt all our hair stand. My sister and I both looked at each other and asked "Who is that?" We just both said maybe it was from the other line but I'm sure to myself it was not coming from the other line because we clearly hear that it was near our side and I can tell the difference between the sound coming from a phone and the sound you can hear just an inch distance
from you

I find this last encounter very funny when I told this story to somebody else because this soul removed the smile on my face and on my sister on that night and put the joke on us. And now I thought he was a clever soul.

thank you!!!!

Sounds like you definitely dialed a "wrong" number!!!  Thanks for the story!

Ol' Foggy bottom....

It was late summer. My husband Frank, and my cousin Bill got their bait and tackle together then headed off for an evening of fishing on Lake Champagne. They arrived at the lake around dusk, intending to fish on up into the wee hours of the morning, depending on how good the fishing was.

They put their john-boat into the water and headed for a little cove on the other side of the lake.

To begin with, they were catching fish right and left, but along about ten thirty, eleven o'clock the fish stopped biting. A little nibble here and there was all they were getting.

Becoming bored and tired, they decided to move to another spot to see if the fishing was any better. They started the small motor on the john-boat and headed out across the lake. Halfway there, they ran into a thick fog. The night had been clear up until then. Wondering where the fog had come from, they killed the motor and sat there a few minutes trying to decide whether or not to head on home. Suddenly, from the depths of the lake, they began to hear the faint sounds of music. But this was no ordinary music, for it sounded as if someone had begun to play an old pipe organ, and it was coming from the water below them!

Creeped out but refusing to give in to fear, they tried to rationalize. Maybe the music only "seemed" to be coming from the water. Maybe being in the midst of this fog, their sense of hearing was distorted. Still, where had the 'Fog' come from?

Deciding things were a little too weird, they made the decision to leave the lake and go home. They only hoped they didn't lose their sense of direction as fog can easily make one do.

The motor started easily enough and they began to move through the fog, the music steadily playing and becoming louder by the minute. It took them approximately ten minutes to escape the fog, their ears steadily ringing, feeling as if they would burst from the sheer shrillness of the music they were hearing. Suddenly, the fog lifted and there was dead silence. This was somehow even more frightening than the music of only moments before. Admitting their fear, they couldn't wait to get to shore and as far away from the lake as
possible. When they reached the shoreline, they wasted no time packing up their gear and loading the john-boat onto the pickup truck...

This happened about ten years ago and to this day, to my knowledge, they have never fished that lake at night again, although they, as well as myself, have fished there during the day many times since then.

Frank and Bill have never figured out what happened to them that night. They only know that it was an experience they will never forget and never want to go through again...There is, however, one possible explanation and it is as follows:

Lake Champagne is located just outside the county. There are many ritzy houses built on its banks. But many, many years ago there was only one house built on its banks; a plantation house owned by the Champagne family. I don't know the full story of how the Champagnes lost the land and their home but to my
knowledge, the family line died out many years ago. Perhaps it is the spirits of this once prominent family that caused the fog and the pipe organ music. Perhaps they, even in death, are angry to have lost their home and are seeking revenge against the living. I don't really know.

I only know that the family's gravesites are located on a little knoll just before you get to the entrance to the Lake Champagne subdivision. They are mostly unattended. The graves are old. There are large trees grown up around them. I have never stopped to look at the dates on the headstones but perhaps I will do just that very soon.......

YIKES!!!  Ok, fishing at night on a lake is creepy enough, much less hearing music from Davey's locker!

I have lived in 4 different homes in the last 10 years and I have had "something" with me every where I go. My husband and I have lived in our current home for 3 1/2 years and have had several small occurrences. They have been the "usual" things. Lights going on and off, things being moved only to
find them right where we looked a dozen times, etc.

We have had a friend over who is "sensitive" to these types of situations and he believes the spirit is
that of a woman and she primarily stays in our storage closet downstairs. She does come upstairs occasionally but has only REALLY scared me once. I was off work and had the house to myself and was in the process of putting away groceries. I was standing on a chair and had my back to the rest of the house. I heard the sound of what I'm guessing to be a hand running along the length of the basement banister (we had Halloween garland wrapped around it at the time). Then it "felt" like she jumped up behind me and brushed up against
me as if she were intentionally trying to scare me. I yelled for her to stop
it and proceeded to put my groceries away with my back facing the cabinets.

Then I saw a black streak jump from my bedroom to my youngest son's. I grabbed the family bible and hid in my room until my oldest child came home from school. There continue to be unexplainable things but nothing too scary since that first time. We got a dog last year and she is also very sensitive
the "her". Our dog will NOT go in the storage area at any time for any reason. I am telling you all of this as a prelude to the most recent occurrence which happened about 3 weeks ago.

We were outside putting up Halloween decorations and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. About 10pm, I opened the kitchen door and hit the garage door opener to close up the house for the evening. My husband's truck was parked right in front of me. The next morning my husband called me at work in a panic to tell me what had happened to him.

When he walked into the garage, the hazard lights were flashing on the truck. He said it really scared him so he drove especially careful on his way to work that morning. Normally he drives like a maniac. Within 30 minutes of leaving our house, he was involved in an accident and had to pull off the side of the highway with his hazard lights on. There is no way that those lights could have been on all night or the battery would have been dead. I also told our neighbor about the incident and they told us that he walked his dog late that
night and so no lights flashing from the garage windows. I don't know if she was trying to warn him of something or what.

Did you notice that it appears your "visitor" is more active around Halloween time?  Twice you were decorating or had decorated for the Holiday.  Weird... Thankfully your husband heeded "her" warning!

This happened in a different house, same town.

When I was small I stayed with my grandparents quite often. I was always extremely freaked out in their house, especially upstairs. I remember going up to get toys or whatever and getting so scared of something that I would run downstairs as fast as I could.

As I got older, they would tell me that I would constantly be upset about the "wolf" that was upstairs. The older I got, the less I went up there. When I was about 12 years old my mom remarried and my grandparents ended up selling us their house and moving to a new one.

I then had 2 new step-brothers and a step-sister. Our bedrooms were upstairs, but I rarely slept up there because things started happening to me right away. I constantly heard stuff moving through the inside of the walls, which I thought was probably mice. I shrugged everything off until one day my oldest brother came to me and said, "every night if I'm awake around 2:30 I hear someone walking down the hallway." That's all he said.

So one night I had 2 friends over and the 3 of us along with my sister waited up to hear it. My one friend brought her mom's camcorder so that we could prove it. Well, we waited in my parent's room, which was downstairs directly underneath the hallway. Right at 2:30 all 4 of us heard it plain as day and taped it, which
I think my friend still has to this day. We were entirely too scared to go up and see what was going on. We did know, though, that nobody else was home that night. Not even my parents. That wasn't the worst, though. I had a savana monitor lizard that was quite huge. I was made to keep him in the basement in a big aquarium. I always kept a lid on the aquarium so he couldn't get out, because he wasn't very friendly. The one night we came home to find him in our bathtub, which was one of those big huge porcelain claw-footed tubs. His lid was still on the aquarium. We caught him and put him back, but
the next thing was even weirder.

I put my old wooden bookcase on top of the lid. It wasn't big- about 4 shelves high, but heavy enough to hold
a big lizard in place. Not long after, we came home to find him in our upstairs. The bookcase was still on top of the lid. Maybe someone broke in and did it. I'll never know. That was all very scary, and many more things
happened. I'm just mentioning the very worst, but
the next thing was by far the scariest.

I was probably 14 at the time and I was sneaking cigarettes and smoking them whenever I could. Well, the one morning before school I waited until everyone had left and went down to the basement to smoke a cigarette. I
have to explain a little bit about the basement. At the bottom of the steps that go to the basement is a sliding door. If it's closed, obviously it closes off the steps. To the side of the steps and behind a furnace was a
small room. You could only see it if the door was closed. When it was opened it closed that room off. Anyways- it was usually open, as it was this particular day. I knew everyone had left. I even watched them leave, so that
I knew I wasn't going to get caught. Our washer and dryer were at the far end of the basement, and I was over by them with my back toward the steps.

All of the sudden, I heard this bang bang bang really really loud. It sounded like it was from behind the door in that little room. I turned to look and see if I really heard what I did, and it did it again even louder. I ran as fast as I could upstairs and hid in the bathroom until it was time for me to go to school. I was never so scared. I told my mom that night and we were talking. I think she totally believed me. She acted as if she had something
similar happen to her, but wasn't saying (she grew up in that house) She did say, though, that almost every time we'd be away and come home at night that one of the lights upstairs would be on, and when we'd get in the house it would be off and nobody would be there. Coincidence? Maybe, but just so you
know, I do know the history of that house.

It was a barber shop for many years until a family bought it, (I forget their last name.) There are still a
few little things left there from them, and their children have their names scratched into the one shelf. I do know that their youngest son was out sled riding one day, (the house is right at the bottom of a ridge,) and he couldn't get stopped, ran out into the road and got hit by a car.
He died later in the house somewhere. After that family moved, my grandparents bought it. So, take from it what you will. I'm just glad I don't live there anymore!

Now that is one scary story!!  The thought of the dead boy messing with the lizard just freaks me out!!  Good one thanks for the tale!

Grandma....

This story happened when I was around 6 to 7 years old. My mom was looking after my grandma as she was contracted with cancer and confined to the bed. All of us know that she will not lived long so my mom decided to quit her job to look after my grandma.

When my grandma was well before she contracted cancer, my mom's brother wife treated her badly. She had once told my Mom that she will want her to look after her for 1 whole day if she will to be ill one day before she was willing to pass away. Everyone of us did not took her words seriously.

One fine day, my Mom had to attend one of her friend's wedding reception and wanted my aunt (my mum's brother wife) to look after my grandma for that day. My aunt agreed.

When my Mom reached home from that dinner, my aunt complained that my grandma eat up all her dinner which she usually don't when my Mom fed her and pass motion twice which she usually only passed motion once.

My mum thought that my grandma just want to make things difficult for her only as she is the only daughter who is willing to look after her as her other daughter, my aunt simply ignore my grandma when she was ill.

My Mom went to sleep after talking for a while with my aunt. During the middle of the night, I heard my Mom crying and came rushing into my grandma room to check out what happened. My Mom told me that my grandma had passed away. I quickly went to check on my grandma and it was true.

I quickly ask my Mom how did she know since it is in the middle of the night. She told me she heard the dragging of chains (We Chinese believe that when we pass away, there will be ghost guards with chains to lead us away) and a gust of cold wind that swept by her. There should not be any cold wind as the windows were all closed and the fan was off.

Once hearing what she told me, my hair on my neck and hand stand up. I really believed there is ghosts existing around us after this happened.

Great story!  Similar to one of our first stories submitted by a nurse in Texas who saw and felt a gust blow past him when his patient died.  I am always eager to feature Asian ghost stories!  We strive to feature stories from around the world so if you have a weird one, send it to us!
