Good Dog Bo....

My 14 year old Labrador Retriever named Bo finally passed after wasting away for several weeks. It was a rough ending to a proud dog's life. I was very loyal to this big dog and had to carry him outside to potty for the last 16 days of his struggle.

The day after he died I was walking out of my bedroom when I smelled the dog very strongly at my side. I had completely cleaned the house and thrown out or given away all of the dogs bedding and toys. No scent should have remained. I walked forward a bit. No dog smell. I walked back a bit. No dog smell. When I stood in original spot where I had first noticed the smell there it was again. It was only in a very localized area.

I said out loud, "Bo are you here with me?". I then heard the unmistakable sound of the dog's nails clacking on the hardwood floor walking down the hall towards me. After a few steps the sound stopped. Nothing has occurred since.

I think my old dog Bo was returning to ease my discomfort concerning his death. I am grateful for his help.

I love animal ghost stories! We've had two other submissions similar to this. Once a dog brought it's toy back and another time a cat walked down a hallway and jumped onto the bed! I do believe it wouldn't be called heaven if there were not dogs there!

I have believed in the supernatural for a very long time, spanning back to when I was about the age of six years old. For a long time it seemed as though I was just paranoid until the night we were at my Aunt's old farm house.

I was with my mom and dad in the guest bedroom, they were asleep and I could not, when out of the wall floated a little old lady that looked as kind as could be. Her hair was neatly pulled back into a bun and she was dressed in a long black old fashioned gown. She had a small grin on her face and she floated right through.

I told my mom the next day and she did not believe me, so I went and told my aunt about the night visitor that I saw the night before. She asked me to tell her what the lady looked like, I told her and she pulled out a picture and I saw her.

The lady's name was Rose Mary and she had died in 1925 at the age of 79. The house had caught on fire in the kitchen and she could not escape, she perished in the house. She seems to pick a different room to visit every night and just passes through.

One night my Aunt said that the lady smiled at her and it seemed to be a thank you for taking such good care of the home. I will never forget her, she was so beautiful for her age and she was so proper, she almost did not seem to be a ghost at all.

Awesome that you were able to validate the identity of your spectral visitor! Now if only you can send us a photo of the house and Rose Mary! (we would of course keep the actual location a secret)

Hooded and Freezing....

When I was 8 I use to go to bed at 9 because my mother would be on my case about smart people sleep well to get a better life. So naturally I didn't listen.

One night about 1 week before Halloween I was in bed. I couldn't fall asleep so I was staring at the ceiling. This was a regular occurrence for me. I had just closed my eyes when there was a crawling sound. I thought it was my dog, So I brushed it off. But, it became louder. It didn't sound like paws.

I opened my eyes. On the ceiling was a hooded figure. It floated down right to my face and I could feel the air around me freeze. I was freaked. But my muscles wouldn't work. It floated there for about 5 minutes. Just staring at me then it disappeared. I freaked out and ran down stairs. For the next 5 months I slept in my parent's room.

I would have slept in my parent's room until I went away to college!!!

Porcelain devil dolls....

I was only about 9 or 10 when this happened. I was in my bed, watching TV.( it was about 12pm) My mom got me some of those freaky porcelain dolls for my birthday. I kept looking at them out of the corner of my eye.

Their eyes looked like they were moving. I finally fell asleep, when I was woken up by someone whispering my name!!!! I listened to it for about 2 minutes, then, it stopped. I listened a little bit longer, but I couldn't hear anything more.

I was way too freaked out to leave my room, so I turned on my TV. I was finally drifting back to sleep, when I heard my 4 year old sister scream at the top of her lungs! I jumped out of bed the second I heard her.
(we were home alone) I opened the door to her room to see my porcelain doll right by my sisters bed!

I grabbed the doll, and shoved it in a garbage bag, and threw it over into my neighbor's horse pen. (It got trampled on by all of the horses.) I was really relieved. My sister was shaking all over, and it started to rain.
I took her inside, and made her hot cocoa.

My sister told me that the doll went into her room and told her she was going to die that night. I let her sleep in my bed that night, but I always wonder what made the doll go berserk.

I guess it will be a mystery forever, (actually I don't think that I even want to know what actually happened).

Those dolls are creepy. That and those mardi gras masks.. those give me the willies!

I'm including this older story here because we have an update! How creepy when this happens!

fishing for souls?....

My name is Sylvia Lewis. The strangest thing happened to my 15 year old son Josh and me last night. We are both totally convinced that we saw a ghost.

We live in Miamisburg, Ohio. I am 34 and have never seen a ghost in my life. When my son was about 3 or 4. He claims to have seen one at my mom's house. He was very descriptive and never changed his story as a toddler and even to this day remembers the same things.

Anyway, last night, (Sunday, October 26th, 2003 at almost exactly midnight- 3 minutes before), we were driving down Old 25, in Miamisburg, Ohio towards West Carrollton. To be even more specific it was about 30 seconds past Richard St.  We saw a man cross the road from the left to the right.
I had to slow down to let him cross. My lights were right on him. He had on a tan fishing hat, khaki pants and a construction smock with reflectors on it. We could not see a face or feet/shoes or hands. He was scurrying across the road, not appearing to be touching the ground. He was kind of bent over and his legs were moving slow but he actually moved sort of fast. His legs were definitely not moving fast enough to get him across the street that quick.

When he first crossed I thought he was just looking the opposite direction of us because I did not see hair or skin or a face. We thought it was weird for someone to be walking out of the woods near the river with a construction smock and fishing hat on at midnight. We both looked at each other as we started realizing it didn't look like a real person. I immediately turned around to go back and check him out and he was no where around that area. From where he crossed and the direction he was going, he would have had to cross into an open field near a factory or walk down the road which was also open (no trees or place to hide). We should have been able to see him but we did not. We even drove around that area and did not see him.

We both were describing to each other what we saw and again realized there was no face, hands or feet and he walked really weird across the road.

We would love to know how to find out if there are any other sightings of this person or if there was any type of accident at that spot.

My son and I just went to the Ohio State Reformatory two days before this happened. We love stories of hauntings and we both believe in ghosts. On top of that, it is less than a week before Halloween. We feel like not many people will believe our story.

We told my husband David and he did not believe us until we swore that we were not joking and described to him in detail what we saw.

Please email me if you have any information similar to this.

We now have an update submitted regarding this story. We've had a run of confirmed sightings this month so of course We would be quite interested to know if anyone else out there in Ohio has seen this figure.  If so... let us know

Fishing for Souls 2....

It is funny that I happened to find this story, fishing for souls?.... on your web site.

During the day, a few weeks ago, I saw something that I thought was odd. My husband was driving down Old 25 towards West Carrollton as well, and from a distance I saw someone crossing the street from the left to the right.

Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to what the person was wearing, but I remember thinking that it was a busy time of the day to cross that street. When we got close to where he should have been, I didn't see anyone. I don’t know if he could have gotten out of sight that quickly or not.

Maybe this was just a very brave person crossing the busy street and disappearing into the wooded area on the other side of the road…or maybe this was the same figure that Sylvia Lewis is describing. I just found this to be an odd coincidence, and I thought I would share. I'll keep my eyes open and pay more attention if I get the chance again!

Very cool story. Thank you for giving us an update!  We would be quite interested to know if anyone else out there in Ohio has seen this figure.  If so... let us know

Man in the Hallway....

Where it happened: the trailer I grew up in, Clyde, OH
Posted on: 10/29/05

Although I have had more than one experience with the supernatural, what I am about to tell you is the first "encounter" I can remember. From the ages 6-12, I lived in a trailer in a really small town in Ohio.

First let me describe the trailer: It was an older trailer, even for the mid- late 80's. There was a room at the very front of the trailer, we used it for storage, this room was always cold. Our cat would never go into it, she always sat right at the doorway and stared in but she would never set a foot inside the door. Ok on with my story.

One night my mom was working late, leaving me with my stepfather, who happened to like to drink too much. I was around 7 or 8 yrs old at the time. It started to get late, so I decided to be good for once and get ready for bed on my own as my stepfather was passed out in my parents room. The way our bathroom was set up, the sink and mirror were parallel , actually right next to, the hallway. So if I looked in the mirror I could see down the hallway going towards the living room.

Anyway, I was brushing my teeth and out of the corner of my eye, I "felt" someone standing in the hallway, assuming my step dad had woken up, I lifted my head and in the mirror I saw a man walking toward the living room. I finished brushing my teeth and followed him to tell him goodnight and when I got to the living room I found that no one was there. Naturally, I assumed that the mirror was playing tricks on me and that he had actually been walking back toward the bedroom.

But I started to realize I didn't hear him walking down the hall, which in that old trailer, you heard every footstep, every creaking step. So, I should have heard him walking either to or from the living room area. I walked back to his bedroom and found him still passed out in the exact same position I had seen him in last. I sat in that room watching TV while he slept until my mother came home. I didn't move an inch until she arrived. I was so scared.

I told my mom about it but, being that I was 8 she didn't pay too much attention. That is until one night about 4 months later, I was visiting my real dad, and my step dad was out. My mom was up late watching scary movies (of course). She said she could hear footsteps in the hallway, she says she thought it was my step dad coming in so she went to open the bedroom door and no one was there. Considering she was watching scary movies she chalked it up to her own imagination. But she decided to leave the bedroom door open this time, and she said she still heard footsteps, but saw nothing.

Well thats my first story. I m sure I will share my other experiences, but for now its getting late, and sharing these stories always make me a little more "sensitive" than normal.

Having grown up in a creaky old trailer in the 70s I totally understand what you mean when you say the floor would creak when anyone moved around. Thanks for your story! Did you ever find out anything about the trailer later on?
