COLD FINGER....

One night I was in my bedroom trying to fall asleep. I had the television turned off and the room was pitch black. I was laying on my side when I heard a noise behind me. It sounded like someone breathing. I turned over, though I didn't want to, and saw nothing.
I was
then aware of my own breathing and disregarded the sound. When I rolled back
over I felt
a chill run down my back. I felt like a very cold finger or finger-like object.
I turned onto my back and stared up at the ceiling. I saw from the corner of my
eye, a light flowing through my window. I thought nothing of it, for I live in a
highly residential area, but when I began to disregard it as a passing car,
there was a knock on the window. I thought it may have been a friend of mine
whom lives down the street. (We often sneak out in the middle of the night and
make some trouble in the neighborhood.)
I looked
out the window and saw a figure standing on the stairs. It was not my friend and
I began to worry. I stood there for a moment, staring at the figure in wonder.
It then moved toward the bottom of the staircase and I watched it leave. As the
"thing" let my view, I heard someone whisper my name. I turned and looked and
the creature was now
standing in my bedroom.
It stayed there for one moment, and I stayed where I was for I knew not what
would happen if I were to move. It then disintegrated into thin air. I did not
sleep at all that night.
I tell this to let you know that ghosts exist. I did not believe it until that
fateful night. Living beings are not the only things that walk this earth, and
you, too, will some day see that. Thank you for reading.
Great story! What did the figure look like? male? human-like? Creepy!

ol' rust bucket....

I'm in the air condition trade and working late on hot and humid days or nights in deep south Texas is far toO common, so my wife says.
On one
night I was working just a bit too late for comfort, I just had to finish a
complete 3-ton installation because I had promised my family that I would take
them out for the weekend and the extra cash could come in handy. I was on my
butt leaning over just starting to check the final
connections on the condenser, I looked up at the stars and ahh' what a glorious
sight.
The wooded frame house sure looked older than the owner and I do recall him saying his father had built the house himself, The owner looked well into his 70's and noted that he had been born in it. The house was not centered on the lot but instead was off to the right, I was on the left side facing the the back bedroom, "just two more wires that's all" I was thinking of when I started to feel that discomfort feeling you get when someone is just staring at you (I'm getting goosebumps just remembering).
I turned around but all I could make out was an old car in the dark. It got worst and at one point I could swear someone was standing behind me I was losing it, my heart was pounding faster and faster with a final swoosh of a gust of wind behind me the back door swung open, that was enough to make me jump almost three feet in the air. "Are you alright?" the lady of the house asked as she stepped outside to get some fresh air.
"I completely forgot to tell you to stay away from around that old rust bucket
at night, you see my son was working under it one night and complained that his
brother was pulling on his feet when in reality his brother had gone home two
hours ago. On night while I was bringing down the last pair of socks from the
clothing line my hair was pulled back so hard I nearly fell to the ground, I
looked around to see who would do something like that but no one was even
outside."
As she was telling me this the hairs on the back of my head were starting to stand up, "So please don't go back there" she said. Well she didn't have to tell me twice. I did finish the work but decided to make this customers calls V.I.Ps this way I'll be done well before dark. This is only one of my strange encounters.
Sounds like some kind of mischievous prankster of a ghost! Did you think to ask the lady what the history of the car was? Perhaps it had been involved in an accident which caused a death, or maybe it's original owner was a prankster who had passed on? Thanks for the story! We enjoyed it...

LITTLE BRAT....

One
night a few months ago I woke up because I had had one of those dreams that I
was falling and it felt like I had fallen on my bed. That happens alot, so that
didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary. But then when I heard someone
snickering, I thought maybe my younger brother, Harlen had snuck into my room
and was spying on me, and had seen me twitch in my sleep.
I immediately shouted, "Harlen! Get out of my room NOW!" But to my surprise, the
little brat didn't go running out of the room. I thought for a moment that he
could still be there, so I turned the light on, but there was no one in my room
at all.
I just figured it was because it was very late at night and my ears were playing
tricks on me.
But the next day, when I got home from school, the CD player in my room was
softly playing. Again, I was mad because I thought someone had gone into my
room, but everyone said they hadn't.
A few days passed, when I came home from my friend Jenne's house to see my
brother on the front steps of our house crying. When I asked him what was wrong,
he was so upset he could hardly speak. He wasn't even hysterical, he seemed
drained of energy and just afraid. I finally got out of him that the TV. had
been shutting off by itself, and it had scared him.
I rolled my eyes and dragged him inside. I noticed right away that a chair from
the dining room lay broken on the floor and a lamp also lay by the couch in
shattered pieces. When I asked Harlen if he had done it, he just shook his head
and looked at me more afraid that before, even more tears welling in his eyes. I
also noticed that the TV. was turned off. I told Harlen I believed him, and not
to worry about the chair or the lamp, I would talk about it to mom.
You see, my brother had been very stressed out at school, lately, and I just
figured that the TV. had been acting up, he got angry and broke the lamp and the
chair and felt bad about, hence making the story up. And I knew he felt bad, so
I wanted to keep him out of trouble.
I told him to go back to his room and try to sleep it off, but he refused. He
kept looking at me like he expected something very bizarre to happen at any
moment.
"Harlen, what's wrong?" I asked again, but he just shook his head and started
crying again. I took him out on the back patio and under the storm umbrella,
since it was slightly raining. I sat him down on a chair around the patio table,
and asked again what had happened.
Then he told me this...
Apparently, he was laying on the couch to where his feet were where his head
should be, and his head was dangling off the edge of the couch, so that
everything seemed upside down to him. Then he heard a loud slamming noise that
made him just upright and the channels started changing rapidly, getting faster
and faster.
He said, after about twenty channels were gone through, there was a deep,
moaning noise, and seconds after that, a loud, shrill scream, and it kept
stopping and starting again, like whoever was screaming was panicking. He said
he when bursting out the front door, and was staring at the house
when he heard the lamp and chair break.
I believed he believed what he was saying, but I didn't believe it really
happened. Harlen had been so stressed out, and he's only ten, so I just figured
along with his vivid imagination and his stress, he didn't really know what had
happened. I told him not to say anything to mom or dad, I would just sort
everything out for him, and that would be the end of it.
But the next night, everyone got Harlen's proof.
My parent's don't usually watch TV., and I really don't either, Harlen's really
the one who we can't pull away from it, and when my parent's came home and
turned on the TV. to see the news, that was the first thing we thought was
weird. Why would Harlen have been watching the news? It was, I
daresay, very unlike him.
Then at about three in the morning my bedroom door went bursting open and I
could hear bangs all through out the house. My family came stammering out into
the upstairs hall, everyone of us looking bewildered. The banging stopped
upstairs, but continued in the kitchen. As we went down stairs together, the
cabinets and drawers in the kitchen stopped where they were, then a few drawers
slid closed.
Then my mom noticed the TV. in the living room was on. It was again on the
news.We only caught a second of it, some newscaster talking about someone having
been hurt when my dad ordered us all out to the car and we would stay at my
Aunt's house that night.
I tried to find out what had been on the news the next day, but I couldn't find
anything. I still don't know exactly what happened, but everything's been
peaceful since.
Now that is a good story!! It sounds like some type of poltergeist activity. there is a theory that poltergeists are actually telekinetic energy which is being produced by a teenager or pre-teenager in the home. maybe harlen was so stressed out he was firing off bursts of psychic energy! or maybe some spook was passing through and decided to make himself known! was anyone playing with ouija boards or anything like that around that time? let us know if anything else happens!

Well
first, it is important to tell readers that my home was built during the early
'30's by a very prestigious lawyer in our town. Towards the end of his
life, he was wheelchair bound due to his age and he was also on oxygen
constantly because of his emphysema. As a matter of fact, our floor is spotted
by cigarette burn marks where the old man fell asleep smoking.
After the old man died, another family moved in. We're quite close with the wife
and children of this family because we go to church with them. We have
never met the husband of the family because approximately 4-5 years ago he
committed suicide. He was an anesthesiologist and purposely overdosed himself on
the drugs used in his profession.
Well, enough history. Since we've been living here "things" have happened on
only a few occasions. Mostly to my mother and I. My first "encounter" was when
our downstairs library was not being used as a bedroom for my brother, I had
gone to retrieve a book to read for the night, as I left the room I distinctly
remembered turning off the light. As I went up the stairs to my bedroom, I
turned the stairway light off, but recognized the glow of the the library's
light shining behind me... I
promptly turned the light off not thinking much of it (Reminder: My parents were
asleep and had been for at least 2 hours, they are also very anal about turning
lights off) and went to my room to read before bed.
After
reading for about an hour I went back downstairs to the library to replace the
book and the damn light was on AGAIN. I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to the
"paranormal" so I tried to think nothing of it because the mind can do amazing
things when you believe something enough (I know from previous experiences).
A couple of months later, my mother was home alone (my father was in the desert
and my brother and I were both spending the night with friends) and she claims
to have heard the toilet in her bathroom to have flushed on several occasions
that night as well as smelling the odor of cigarettes
burning (No one in our family smokes AT ALL).
My dog has also sensed the presence of something in our home as she often sits,
ears perked at nothing at all for hours. She has also been known to bark at
things in empty rooms without reason.... She's an older dog, so she's not being
frisky either.
Probably the last and most vivid encounter my family has experienced is when my
dog urinated on our kitchen floor one afternoon and my father offered to clean
it up for my mother who was busy cleaning house... my mother said that it would
probably be best if she just hauled off and
mopped the floor altogether (My dog was put outside as punishment for peeing on
the floor). My father agreed and told my mother that he was going to lay down
for a nap before he had to go to work since he had been up since 4 that morning.
He did and my mother set the mop at about a 65
degree angle against the wall and went into her bedroom to tell my father that
the floor was wet and not to walk on it, but she only found him to already be
asleep (with a sleeping mask and earplugs as he is most accustomed to doing).
Our
computer office is adjacent to the kitchen and only a sliver of the kitchen can
be seen from it. It just so happens that the place that my mother propped the
mop up was in that space of vision
from the computer. As my mom sat at the computer doing her work, a dark figure
crossed her peripheral vision and she heard the mop fall. She got up immediately
to look at it.... It had not slid down the wall.... but fallen over in the
opposite direction as if being knocked from the top.
She called for my father and when she received no answer ran into her bedroom
and jumped on the bed beside where my father was still asleep and woke him
immediately. That was merely 2 weeks ago....
Thank you for sending in your story! very interesting history on the house. Did the anesthesiologist suffer from depression or anything prior to moving in there? has your dog just now started to piddle in the house? perhaps the dog is feeling the stress of being able to see and hear things outside human senses. The dark figure is the scariest! Let us know if any other weird stuff happens at your house!

Sock Feet....

When I
was 17, I found that a friend of mine had kept a terrifying secret away from us
for years, but he eventually made believers out of us all...
I had just left to Idaho on vacation to see my mother for awhile, and my friend
had called me many times telling me I needed to hurry back- he had something
important to tell me, but I had to be there in person he said.
I arrived back in Vegas a few months later and when I saw him, the very first thing he mentioned was this business he'd been telling me about, of course not in detail mind you, because I would never have stepped foot in this house again if I'd known the details.
Staying over for the night at his house, he said it was about time and he had to
cut the lights out, he also told me to listen closely- to stay awake. I
had no idea what was going on. About 45 min later I heard footsteps- I
distinctly remember them sounding like someone wearing socks, scraping them
SLOWLY on the floor as
it walked closer.
I got a bit freaked because I could hear his mother, father, and dog all snoring
in the room down the hall- it was not them. It walked in the room opening the
door a bit, it came around the bed, I was sleeping on the floor and I listened
to the footsteps walk past my face- I was paralyzed, but my eyes were
open and there was definitely no one there! Walking to the other side of the bed
it made his birds start bouncing around the cage, chaos was going on and I was
still just laying there in denial. My friend sat up after the ghost exited and
said," did you hear that? I've been dealing with that every night for years now,
I had to know if was going crazy."
His
parents laughed at us for awhile until it happened to them, they witnessed the
humming bird music box wind itself up and play, they watched shadows glide
across the wall, and even heard the voice of my friend calling for them-
after he had left to college. I have not had anything strange happen
to me in about four years, but long after the events written above, something
had followed me across the states all the way here to Alabama, I'm now 25.
I love
reading everyone's entries on this site and I'm hoping to learn a little bit
more about what happened to me back then
okay... that is the all time CREEPIEST story EVER!! Just the thought of the sock feet sliding would have made me freak! The mental picture that creates is a scary one for sure! We would love more information on this house! If you are out there J.S. get in touch!

I was four when it happened my great grandpa was heading to the sawmill carrying a lantern I was following but my great grandma was afraid I would get hurt so I had to stay behind.
He was
going to see if everything was working well. When his shirt got caught in the
saw. A couple
weeks later my grandma, mom, and great grandma attended his funeral.
A couple of days later I was outside with my dog when he started growling and heading toward the sawmill I cautiously followed all of a sudden I saw a figure carrying a lantern. It was grandpa. I think he was trying to finish the job he had failed the night he died.
I ran
back to the house with my dog Luke tailing behind me I told grandma what I saw
but she didn't believe me... until the time she saw it for her self.
Short but Sweet! Touching as well as a bit scary. Thanks for your story!
