Who is the Ghost?...

It was in the early 1980's, in Oak Cliff, Texas....a large area
of South Dallas, when I had this experience. The house was on Glenhaven in
the Southwest part of the Cliff (3826 Glenhaven, to be exact)...the same
house I lived in when I experienced the ghost of the little girl that
haunts the train trestle on Coombs Creek.
I'm not sure if I saw this before, after or on the same night as the
little girl encounter, but I'll never forget it.
I had stayed up late that night, as I did most nights, watching
television. I usually fell asleep on the floor in front of the TV. and
this night was no exception. When I awoke the next morning, it was with a
jolt...have you ever been awakened by a loud noise or a touch or whatever,
and immediately on waking, were kind of creeped out for some reason... or
thinking "what was that"...? That's how I felt. My eyes had snapped open
for some reason...like there was a noise or feeling or something that woke
me, and I was kind of freaked out wondering "what woke me up?".
I was laying flat on my back and I hadn't moved yet upon waking, because I
was going to lay there and listen for a few seconds or so and try to
figure out what was going on.( We had had a break in a week or so earlier
while I was there) I could sense something over to my left near the end of
the entertainment center and slowly let my gaze drift that way. When I
finally looked in that direction, my heart almost stopped. I had to stare
at it for a few moments before it registered with me that there was a man
and a small boy standing in my living room.
The man had on a grey suit and
knickers? (the pants that go down to the knees and then there are socks
from the knees down?) and a Derby Hat? (Like the ones they wore in the
early 1900's) the little boy looked scared of me and had on a brown suit
and knickers and a derby hat, and they were looking down at me as I lay on
the floor. I tried to say "What are you doing here"...but felt frozen and
could only get out "WUH...WUH...", more "Breath" than "Words". I tried to
get up, but I felt pinned down...I couldn't move my arms or legs or even
raise up. I continued to look up at them while I struggled to get up and
was trying to say "Get Out". They continued staring down at me as I
struggled, and the man even put his arm around the boy and pulled him
gently closer to his side like he was saying "It's O.K. son, I'm here".
This went on for what seemed like forever, but in reality was probably
only a few moments. I fought even harder to get up, the more scared I
became, and finally bolted up into a sitting position screaming "GET OUT"
at the top of my lungs...and they just faded away. I sat for a long while
trying to figure out what happened and couldn't rationalize any of it.
there was a drying pole that my mom had set up near the fire with a dress
hanging on it, and I tried to convince myself that that is what I saw and
that my mind had played tricks on me or I was half awake and half asleep
and dreamed it/saw it or whatever...but I couldn't deny the fact that I
saw them so vividly down to what they were wearing. Plus, the dress hanging
by the fire was not in the same spot the man and boy were in and it was
bright red. And if I think about it or picture in my mind, I can see the
dress hanging on the drying pole next to them. I've recently heard that
the whole block area was a graveyard at one time, but I haven't researched
that rumor yet.
I wonder if this was some type of "time slip?" Perhaps the boy and his father thought they had seen the "ghost"!

This incident took place four years ago. At the time of the incident my older sister was eight months pregnant and she would sleep with me. Her fiancé was active military and was gone at the time. I woke up one night to a feeling of someone standing over me. The feeling was so close as though it was but a few inches from my face. I opened my eyes but I couldn't see what was making me feel uneasy. My reaction was to reach for my sister and try and touch her belly. Reason being that, growing up my grandmother would tell us that when children are around you can always feel safe from evil because they are always being protected by their guardian angel. She would also say that children can see and hear things that adults cannot. When I tried to reach her I was "stopped" abruptly. My hand was still in mid-air and I couldn't move. It felt as though something held me down. I tried to call out to her but I couldn't speak and I felt like I was choking. Finally I felt a release and I was gasping for air and that's when I reached for my sister and pulled her close to me. I asked her if she had heard or felt anything and she shook her head "no". I held on to her for the remainder of the night and I felt a lot safer that way. Since then I would sleep with one hand on my sister's stomach and after my niece was born I didn't feel it again. It still sits very clear in my mind and I am always wondering as to what exactly was in that room with my sister and I and why did it not come back once my niece was born?
This is the first time I've heard the theory that having small children around can offer protection. It sounds like the "Old Hag" was responsible for your eerie midnight visit!

About 10 or 15 years ago I was living on a secondary road on the borders of the towns of Highland Mills and Cornwall both of New York State. The small cottage my girlfriend and I were living in was about 150 years old and was backed by West Point and Black Rock Forest land for hundreds and hundreds of acres. I was between jobs and being the "house husband" as my then girlfriend worked. I remember it was a crisp fall day the doors to the small deck were open when i heard the sound of bagpipes playing. I went out onto the deck and I could still hear them. There were only three other homes on this road and knew the sound wasn't coming from any of them but off in the woods. I listened until they faded away. I wondered if it could have been coming from West Point, but West Point it self was many miles away even as the crow flies, over twelve if going by car. That evening when my girlfriend came home I told her someone was playing bagpipes. She looked at me and asked, "Was it one of the neighbors?" I said no, it sounded as if it was coming from the woods. She went on to say, "Oh wow, really are you sure?" I couldn't understand her excitement until she filled me in. She said, she was told there were ghost pipes roaming the woods and that every now and then someone would hear them. She lived there before we got together and she always wanted to hear them but never did. I heard them once again after that, but never again.
That was very interesting, any stories of Banshees in the area?

I was laying in bed one
early morning drifting off to sleep when
suddenly I heard my ex girlfriend yelling outside my door..I jumped up and
observed a fire light fly past my windows I clearly heard her yelling
"David where am I?!" Over and over again..No sooner had I opened the door
she disappeared in fact she went straight up like a rocket and disappeared
in a flame about 7 feet over my head.....What a strange dream I
thought...What the hell was that about? I went into the house put on my
shoes and pants and went for a walk around the neighborhood..There was
nothing no one around not my ex girlfriend nor anyone else..I contemplated
calling her but thought "Naaa just some strange dream but why did I wake
up and run outside..?" Wondering aloud...Oh well I went back to bed. The
next morning I got up and went across the street to the corner "Stop and
Rob" for a cup of joe, got it bought a paper went home to sit upon my
throne the first thing I always read in the paper are the obituaries
because as I joke with friends "If I'm not in there I could go on with my
day.." I opened the paper to the obits and
there she was
my ex girl
friend. I dropped the paper and ran to the phone and called another friend
she answered "Hello?" "C.J.s dead I saw her last night on fire screaming
past my windows and now she's dead..." My friend didn't know what to say
but against her better judgment came over I showed her the obit and told
her the story....She listened but I could tell thought I was a little
nuts..Once I calmed myself down a bit I called C.J.'s Brother in law he
told me that she passed away on the 19th of December early in the morning
from a massive heart attack on the 23rd in the afternoon. They held a
viewing and late last night he told me she was cremated..I just about
laid an egg right there..I didn't tell him my experience, I wanted to but
felt better of it..I learned of her death on Christmas Eve..It was a rough
Christmas yet I realized she came to see me leaving me a very special
gift.
This is another first here at The Barrens, we've never heard of a cremated spirit appearing in flames before. Thanks for the story!

This all happened two years ago at the
age of eleven at my
grandma's house. It was an experience that made me hungry for more
ghostly
encounters, even though it freaked me out BIG TIME and almost had a
heart
attack. It's a historical encounter with those who still can't find
their
eternal rest. This is the story of The Ghost Soldier.
I was staying at my grandma's house for a week. Longer than I expected
because of there was a lot of rain and almost caused a huge flood. My
encounter happened my second night at the house.
Since it was Friday night, my second day there, me and my two aunts who
live
there were watching my favorite ghost stories show about real ghostly
encounters. During the show, I thought about how ever since I began
believing in ghosts I hoped I would have a ghostly encounter someday...
I
got my wish that night.
Whenever I stayed over there, I always get the choice with who I want to
stay
with. My grandma, grandpa, or either of my two aunts and my cousins. I
always liked it with my grandma so I chose to stay with her. I never
really expected her to have a haunted house, but I was WRONG!
Like I said, it was raining hard and it almost caused a flood there.
Thunder and lightning woke me up at about,
12 a.m. I jerked awake and I noticed...a strange light in the left
corner
of the bedroom. I thought it was just light reflecting of the 4 foot
long
mirror from the lighting, but I was skeptical. I reached to the head of
the
bed and put on my glasses to see better and to see if my skepticism was
true.
You wouldn't believe it! It was TRUE! I saw a soldier. He was
see-through
and my heart flipped around when I saw him. He was wearing a World War
II
American soldier uniform, had medium long dark brown hair, and he was
looking through some papers my grandma had in a basket of the left
corner
of the bedroom where I saw him.
I was SCARED! That was the time I was so scared I looked like a little
girl. I put the covers over my head so I wouldn't see him and hoped he'd
go away. I felt faint and wanted to wake my grandma up, unfortunatley, I
had frozen in place.
Nervous, I looked up to take the chance of experiencing a ghostly
encounter. Luckily, he was still there. After about two minutes, he got
up, I
guess he didn't find what he was looking for, and turned to face a solid
wall. He walked to it, and he vanished...
The next day I told everyone what happened and they all believed me
since
they lived close to Fort Bliss and there have always been soldiers. From
that point, I haven't had a ghostly encounter ever since. But I've been
hoping every time we visit or I stay.
Great Story! Maybe he stayed in that house while he was alive?
